Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell was host and panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss issues such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
